week 3, comic strike reading response



            I create a 4 panel comic strike base on the inspiration I got from Charles M. Schulz’s peanut.  Different than the other comic strike I read, the peanut has a relatively ‘small’ story compare to other comic. It is not about some cool characters go thought a typical hero journey or as goofy as some teenage comic. it simply depicts the daily life of bunch kids and a dog. It tries to use the innocence of children as a wrapper for a more mature, adult core. In other words, I really like how the kids in the comic talk like an adult sometime and try to teach some simply lesson to the reader. The peanut to me is a good balance between complexity and simplicity. it doesn’t contains as much information as other comic strike per grid, therefore it is relatively easy for read to pick up and concentrate on the story. Reader only need to know a few things from the main plot and then can start read anywhere in-between the story. Therefore, I try to copy the style of it and create this 4 panel comic strike of a boy name mark doing stupid thing in a snow day, just want to have some fun with it and keep it short and simple. week 6 Underground Comix

Week 6             Underground Comix             I read the The Book of Mr. Natural and understand why it was underground. Sex, yeah, it does contain a decent amount of sexual content and Robert Crumb didn’t just “implied” or cut away the camera during the sex scenes in the comic. He draw those private body parts out, in details…but is this the only reason why it was considered undergrounded? In my opinion, not really. Yes, Mr. Natural is a rude old man and does whatever he wants, but I guess that also makes it one of the very early comics that doesn’t care much about being political correct. The killing joke response 1.what is your response to the text you just read?             Humanity is very complex. Good or bad, wrong or right are all rules made by majority. Just like in this comic, when jokes starts to reconsider all the social rule he being told, he found himself lost in questions, he know more about the evil in humanity than anyone else, and he knows both batman and him try to take the different paths to response to that kind of evil.
