Week 14 Web Comics

Week 14 Web Comics             I read Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. Different then what I expect from the name, the art style is actually pretty “cute” instead of realistic. In some pages, artist even simply the character to stick figures with some simple facial expression. The simplification of the anatomy gives more expression and more exaggeration to character movement. Also, with limited details, audiences can focus more on the story and dialogue. Maybe because it is web comic, which means it is almost produces by just one individual, it gives artist a much broad choices of topics than traditional comic industry. Also the content is more modern related, very expressive, doesn’t care too much about the following the traditional story telling way. Artist tells whatever and whenever he or she wants. I’m not sure of this kind of comics are good for kids, but it is definitely fun for grownups to read.

The killing joke response

The killing joke response 1.what is your response to the text you just read?             Humanity is very complex. Good or bad, wrong or right are all rules made by majority. Just like in this comic, when jokes starts to reconsider all the social rule he being told, he found himself lost in questions, he know more about the evil in humanity than anyone else, and he knows both batman and him try to take the different paths to response to that kind of evil. Batman simply chooses to fight, but joker chooses to experience the evil, be the evil and understand the evil. I have to said in some degree batman and joker are all madman, they both react extremely to the evil in humanity. 2. what connections do you make with the movie?             How does it feel to be the minority? How does it feel when you are on the opposite side of the crowd? I think I know how it feels when I decide to change major from computer animation to visual study.   My parent couldn’t un

Week 13 Changing Landscape of Licensed Characters

Week 13 Changing Landscape of Licensed Characters             When I was a kid, I imagine superhero as someone who is so perfect and that is nothing he can’t achieve. Always give their power to people whom need them and always looks cool~   Nowadays, superheroes, somehow, are weaker than before. They have more flaws and more personality in them, which does bring them closer to the audience since now they can be “understand”. I guess we just don’t like things there are way too perfect, too complete that we can’t see ourselves reflection in them. Today’s superhero movies all wants to tell the story inside the audience, to build that kind of emotional connection with the audience, and have lots of up-and-down in the plot to give the audience that kind of roller coasters feeling when watching it. I wouldn’t say it is getting better or worse, but one thing I do find funny, and not to offense any superhero’s fans, is no matter how author changes the appearance of super
